Donations Update

Yesterday we received a significant donation from a grandparent in the league that wishes to remain anonymous. I part, the note with the donation said “This is year 4 for my grand daughters to enjoy their play in the Pete Petersen BBall League. The life learning, in addition to the athletics, is tremendous. Thank you for what you and your group continue to do!”

Thank you! We cannot do what we do without the ongoing support of the community all around us – from the ALCDSB leadership and school staff at the schools where we play our games, to the businesses and individuals that support us with financial assistance, to the families and the MANY volunteers that are here every week to make a difference in the lives of our players – Thank you for believing in what we do to keep the dream of Don Petersen alive. Jewellery Reminder

As we begin league play this week, everyone is reminded that no jewellery may be worn during games. This includes ALL piercings, watches, rings, bracelets of all kinds, chains and necklaces. If someone has had a recent piercing that cannot be removed, they will not be permitted to participate until the piercing can be safely removed.

As stated before, this is a basketball rule, not a Pete Petersen Basketball League Rule.

Congratulations Queen’s University Football Hall of Fame Inductees

Last night at the Isabel Bader Centre Queen’s University hosted the Induction ceremony for the 2025 Inductees into the Queen’s Football Hall of Fame. Among those being recognized were three long time supporters of our program as builders. Congratulations to Frank Halligan, Doug Jeffries and Mike Postovit.

For many years Frank, through the Paul Halligan Trust, has funded players from our program attending basketball camps in the summer, and as a parent of players that have played in our program, he knows and supports what we do for the children in our community.

Doug Jeffries and Mike Postovit through their MANY years working at CKWS Television have covered what we do with features on the league and our volunteers, registration and our banquet. We are but one of the local organizations that benefitted from their passion for local sports, and their desire to every day shine a light on the heartbeat of the community where we live that is represented by children learning to love a sport. Doug has continued to influence the next generation of athletes as coach of the Jazz in the Biddy Division since his retirement from CKWS. Congratulations to all three of these very special individuals. We are proud of your association with what we do.

Rounding out the 16 individuals inducted last night were players Joel Dagnone, Ryan Granberg, Cam Innes, Osie Ukwuoma, Tim Pendergast, Sam Sabourin, Dan Village, and Derek Wiggin. Other builders honoured along with Frank, Doug and Mike were Ron Augustine, Pat Sheahan, Pat Tracey, CKWS Sports legend Max Jackson, and Whig Standard reporter Claude Scilley.

The inaugural 1882 team was also recognized along with long time supporter Lois Hazlett, who was given the Loyal Legacy Fan of Distinction recognition.

If you have read this far, I want to remind you that Queen’s plays York today at Richardson Stadium at 3pm.

Fair Play Rules For Spectators

As we approach the start of the season, we thought it would be a good idea to remind all spectators at our games about the Fair Play Rules For Spectators. Please remember these simple requirements to help make the game enjoyable for everyone.
