The Upcoming Week

Just a reminder that there is no activity for players this upcoming week, September 18-22. We have our coaches meeting on Wednesday night to hand out the teams to them. Players should hear what team they are on by the end of day September 24. If you do not hear, please call Roland Billings at 613 548-8790 or message me through Facebook.

ATTENTION COACHES: The coaches meeting starts at 7 pm on Wednesday September 20 at St. Francis of Assisi. COACHES THAT HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED BY THE CONVENORS THAT THEY ARE COACHING THIS SEASON SHOULD ATTEND. We thank everyone that has volunteered to coach, but unfortunately there are not places for all of you. We hope that you will continue to support the program in other ways by helping us out on game nights.

Special Requests

As we go through the process of making the teams, it is important for all parents to remember that not all special requests for players to be together will be met. Our first obligation is to put siblings together unless we are requested not to by parents, and after that to look after families that are travelling from areas outside the city. Our next obligation is to balance the teams. When we get requests for six and eight players to be together on the same team, that is an unrealistic request and it will not be accomodated. Playing a team sport gives children the opportunity to make new friends from other areas of our community, and playing against the children they go to school with every day gives them something to talk about before and after games. We know that you understand the difficult position our convenors are in putting teams together, and hopefully this explanation of our priorities in doing that will help you explain why your child will not be playing on the same team as their seven closest friends.

Bottled Water Sales Curtailed

The Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board has a no plastic water bottle policy in their schools, so as a result we will NOT be selling water this year on game nights. Refillable sport water bottles are of course permitted and encouraged, and there is a filling station and water fountain right outside of the gym. We encourage all players to bring their own water bottles and PLEASE clearly mark your name on them so that we can identify who they belong to when they are inevitably left after games. We will continuie to sell a variety of other items at our canteen at St. Francis of Assisi; and we encourage you to support this key fund raiser for our league for refreshments and ticket purchases.

More Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

5) What happens if I miss the player evaluation night? Will my child be “cut” from the program?
Answer: While we hope that all players come out for evaluation night, no one that is registered will be “cut”. All will be placed on a team, and you will be notified what team and the team practice time in the days following our September 20 coaches meeting.

6) What do I do if I find out that my child has a conflict with another activity or decides they don’t want to play this season?
Answer: Please notify us as soon as possible by e mail ([email protected]), by phone (613 548-8790), through the web site or Facebook page. We will likely have a waiting list in each division of players that want to play, and a decision on your part will get one of them into the league.
