Dine to Donate and Make a Difference

We are thrilled to announce that the East Side Mario’s restaurant at the corner of Weller Avenue and Division Streets has agreed to host a fund raiser for us on November 21, 2018. On that day, at this location only, 10% of restaurant sales between 11 am and closing will come back to the league, or $500, whichever is greater. We welcome East Side Mario’s to our family of supporters, and thank Lana Saunders and the management at the restaurant for believing in what we do for the children in the community. mark your calendars, check the menu and make plans to be at East side Mario’s November 21! We will provide lots of updates between now and then!

Memorial Patches

As we get ready to begin the season it is important to let you as players and parents know about the three memorial patches you will see on league uniforms. On all league uniforms you will see a PETE patch. This is in memory of the league founder Don “Pete” Petersen and is a constant reminder of the profound impact that he had, and continues to have, on the lives of the children in our community. In the Biddy Division, all uniforms have a MR patch in memory of a long time volunteer and league supporter Mike Robertson, and on the Golden Gals uniforms in the Little Gals Division there is a TVH patch in memory of Trinity VanHeddegem, a player for the Golden Gals that passed away during the season a few years ago.
These patches are a reminder that when you become part of the league that Pete built, you are part of the family of players and volunteers that have passed through the gym doors over the years to experience something special.

The coupons provide a FREE order of Cheesy Bread with the purchased of any large 3 topping pizza. We will begin distributing the coupons to our players and volunteers next week as we begin the season.

Thank You Queen’s University Basketball!!!

Last night we had the last of our Shooting Skills Clinics for this season with our guest clinicians Coach Dave Wilson and some of his players teaching players from our Little Gals Division some tips on how to be better shooters. Our thanks to all of them for committing an evening away from their families and studies to spend time with our players. We know that our players learned a lot, and hopefully the Queen’s basketball program has some new fans too!

Little Guys Shooting Skills Clinic

The Little Guys Shooting Skills Clinic was a huge success tonight, thanks to the skills of clinicians Greg Faulkner and Lisa Minutillo, both of whom have extensive overseas basketball experience. They were supported by Paul Medeiros and Matt Charlton for drills and the turnout of players was excellent. Our thanks to all four of these fine shooters for taking the time away from their personal lives to make a difference in the lives of our players.

Our last sessions will be on Thursday when the Queen’s Women’s team will be in to work with our Little Gals players.

Shooting Skills Clinic

Last night the St. Lawrence College men’s and women’s basketball teams went to Cathedral and to St. Francis of Assisi to run shooting skills clinics for our players in the Girls, Biddy and Graduate Divisions. We had a great turn out, and enthusiastic participation by the players and coaching staffs from both teams. There are some photos posted on our Facebook page from the clinics at St Francis of Assisi and as soon as photos from the Grad sessions arrive we will post them as well.

We can’t thank Remy Simpson, Barry Smith, Kevin Smart and Kevin Biggs enough for making this happen. Your players were tremendous role models for our players to see “up close and personal” and hopefully your players found some new fans! Thanks for believing in what we do. We will post the SLC schedule under events on our web site.
