Trophy Origins Seven

Today we conclude our series about the stories behind the names you will hear at the banquet with the background on the Don “Pete” Petersen Award. Much is already known about Donut let me add this comment. He was a kind and generous man who decided early in his life that he wanted to make a difference in the lives of the children in his neighbourhood so he opened the doors to St. Pat’s and made that a reality. As important as that action was, he built a more lasting legacy by teaching those he recruited to help him what was important to the children playing, and the families involved – providing a safe and affordable place where families can come together and learn the joy of being on a team.

Last week of the Season Shout Outs

The last week of our season is made special because of the personal commitment of these people. Music this week will be supplied on Monday and Thursday by long time league executive Chris Payne, and on Tuesday and Wednesday night by Carlos Merchant with Future Vibes Entertainment. Carlos approached us wanting to help out and we are very happy to have his talent doing the music for the end of the season.

We also want to thank local sports icon Doug Jeffries for lending his talented voice to doing our pre and post game player introductions and in game announcing all four nights this week. Thank you for your professionalism Doug, and your long commitment to making a difference in the lives of our players and their families.
The league runs on the volunteers that we have, and we are grateful to have these individuals taking the extra step to help out. I would be remiss to not also include Luis DeMatos on the list for stepping in on Monday night so Doug could coach his team’s last game of the season. THANK YOU ALL!
