We posted this appeal earlier and we want to remind everyone about the clinic coming up on Saturday November 2 at St. John’s Church in Portsmouth being put on by One Match in support of Mackenzie Curran, a former player in our league. In August, MacKenzie was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome, a disease which now requires her to undergo a bone marrow transplant. With no family match, MacKenzie is appealing for male donors 17-35 years old to register with OneMatch, an organization that is connected with Canada Blood Services, at a clinic to be held at St. John’s Anglican Church, 41 Church Street in Portsmouth. The clinic will be held on Saturday November 2 from noon until 4 pm. By registering with OneMatch, you could be a hero to MacKenzie, or to one of the other 700 + Canadians that are in need of a bone marrow or stem cell transplant. We encourage anyone interested to please visit the One Match web site to understand the process and to be informed.
If you can’t make it to that clinic, there are others in the area, including at Queen’s, where they will be having a “One Match” drive on November 29th in the Biosciences Atrium from 9am-5pm and ARC from 9am-4pm. Please help if you can. Thanks in advance.

Don’t forget that the home season opening games are Wednesday night, and again this year the St. Lawrence College Athletics Department is inviting players from our league to attend the home opening basketball games for the men’s and women’s teams when they play the Durham College Lords . There will be a FREE Barbecue, with hot dogs, sausages, chips and sodas for our players. The women’s game tips off at 6 pm with the men’s game to follow. Admission to the games is FREE! The St.Lawrence basketball teams, and the entire athletic department are strong supporters of our league, and this is a chance for our players and their families to come out to show support for the Vikings program, and see some excellent basketball too. On Wednesday October 23 the St.Lawrence Women’s Basketball team spent the night with our Girls Division players, refereeing, scoring, timing, giving out the Player of the Week awards, and assisting our coaches with tips for the players during the games. Coaches Remy Simpson and Sarah McAuley were also involved in the night’s activities, and we appreciate them and the players taking time out of their schedules to spend the evening with our players. A return visit is planned for December 4. Hopefully fans were made for both the St. Lawrence team and for our program! Thank you coaches, and thank you players!
