Memorial Games – Regiopolis vs HCSS

This Friday the Annual Memorial Games in memory of Peter Carty and Paul Halligan, and in support of Cancer Research will be played at Regiopolis. The junior game is at 5 pm and the senior game is at 7 pm. Since Paul Halligan started the Peter Carty Memorial in memory of his good friend, more than $350,000 has been raised for Cancer Research. When Paul died of the same kind of cancer, organizers changed the event to simply The Memorial to honour the memories of the two friends joined forever by this terrible disease. Many players from our league , and referees with ties to the league and the schools have taken part in this fund raising and awareness game. Cancer is a disease that has touched all of us in some way, and this year one of our former players is making a personal commitment to help the cause.

Jack Thurlby, a player for HCSS will cut his hair in support of the cause, and he has set up a go fund me page to raise money. Here is the link to Jack’s page. https://www.gofundme.com/f/jack-cuts-his-hair-for-cancer…

Jack’s sister Allie currently plays in our Girls Division and his parents have long been supporters of what we do in the community, as have so many players and parents from both schools playing Friday.

Support Jack if you choose, attend the games if you can, but even if you can’t, take the time every day to remember those that we have lost to cancer, and commit to make a difference in the fight to eradicate this terrible disease. R
