Weather Cancellation Practice

With the first snow accumulation of the season underway we thought it would be appropriate to review our decision making process for weather cancellations.

1) Regardless of everything you are about to read, we urge you to make your decisions based on the conditions where you live. We live in a community where the weather can be very different in different parts of the community. Decisions whether or not to come to basketball should be be made in the interest of the safety of you and your children.

2) We will make the call on whether or not games are cancelled as early in the day as possible, usually by 1 pm. Coaches will be notified then to contact players, and the decision will be posted on Facebook, Twitter and on our web site.

3) If schools are closed , then community use of schools by groups like us are also cancelled. Please keep in mind that often buses are cancelled but schools remain open.

4) We will communicate when games are cancelled. No news on social media from us means games are going ahead.

65th Anniversary Celebrations

We would like to collect thoughts and memories of your time with the basketball league as we celebrate our 65th season of operation. You can message them to us through Facebook or email them to roland.billings@sympatico.ca.

For those planning on joining us for the celebration event on Friday November 22 from 7-11 pm at the Queen’s Inn, will will also have books there for you to write your thoughts down.

Whether a current or former player, coach, parent or volunteer we want to hear from you. You are all part of the family that comes with being part of the league that Don “Pete” Petersen started 65 years ago, and we hope that you will share your memories and drop in to say hi and share in the celebration on November 22.
