Anniversary Clothing Sales

Next week we will be selling special 60th Anniversary T shirts, touques and lapel pins at both Cathedrale and at St. Pat’s. We are doing this so that Graduate Division players and parents, as well as those in all other divisions, will have an opportunity to purchase these items commemorating our very special anniversary. T shirts are $15 for short sleeved shirts, and $20 for the long sleeve style. In spite of the recent warm weather it will eventually get cold this winter, so what better way to keep your head warm than to have a league touque and support our program at the same time? Cost of this headwear is $15. Custom designed lapel pins featuring our 60th Anniversary logo are also available for $5 to show your support for the league. Golf shirts in black featuring the anniversary logo on the left chest and the phrase “60 Years of Fun” on the left sleeve are available by special order at $40 each.
Whether you are a current or former player, this is a season to show the community that you are proud to be a part of the Knights of Columbus Basketball League family.

Q Jump

We received the following message today from Q-Jump, a Queen’s University initiative aimed at High School aged students. If you are interested please contact them directly. This is not associated with the basketball league in any way.

“I am writing to you on behalf of Q-Jump, a non-profit organization established and run by a group of undergraduate students within the School of Kinesiology and Health Studies at Queen’s University along with its student government, PHEKSA.

Q-Jump is hoping to promote our services through Kingston organizations such as yours.

At Q-Jump, we believe that sport can be used as a vehicle for pro-social development that may foster higher levels of self-confidence in our participants. Moreover, we believe in the power of sport and its ability to inspire, motivate, encourage, and influence socioeconomically challenged youth. With this in mind, not only do we hope to provide our participants with skills to overcome challenges, but encourage their pursuit of higher education and further involvement in sports and athletics at the post-secondary level.

At Queen’s University, we have accessibility to great equipment, outstanding gym facilities, first-aid volunteers, and dedicated and knowledgeable coaching staff. With these resources, Q-Jump has established a weekly program where underprivileged youth can participate in many sports in a positive, pro-social environment. Our program is available to students who are motivated to participate in sport regardless of their previous experience or skill level. Although Q-Jump aims to provide a weekly program for youth in financial need, we will happily accept students of all socio-economic backgrounds at this time.

We are looking for high school aged youth who may benefit from this program. Our first session is Sunday September 28th from 11:00 am – 1:00pm. However, we will be accepting participants throughout the year. It is our hope that you are interested in promoting our service to parents and participants of your organization. We will gladly provide you with flyers and further information about Q-Jump.

On behalf of Q-Jump, I thank you kindly for taking the time to learn more about our organization. We are looking forward to giving underprivileged youth in our community the chance to have a better and brighter future.

Warm regards,
Alena Cook
Q-Jump Committee Member
