Lost Winter Boots

A pair of winter boots were hopefully taken by mistake after the 645 game last night in the Little Guys Division and not stolen. Could parents please check to see that the right boots came home with your child last night? You can notify me through Facebook or return the boots next Tuesday evening. Thanks.

Donation of Canadian Tire Money

Last week Charlee Mallette from the Lions made a significant donation of Canadian Tire money to the basketball league. This donation will be used to help purchase prizes for our annual fund raising golf tournament, and allow us to return more revenue to the league to keep our costs down. Our thanks to Charlee and her family for giving us this donation, and our thanks to all of you that make regular donations of Canadian Tire money at the St. Pat’s canteen. Your donations are appreciated!

THANK YOU ST. LAWRENCE COLLEGE!!

On Wednesday night our players and parents were treated to a complimentary barbeque of hot dogs and sausages with chips and soft drinks as they listened to a live band perform, before going into the gym to watch the women’s and men’s teams play against the Loyalist College Lancers. The gym was packed with our representatives, and the crowd was boisterous for both games, no doubt fueled by the BBQ feast! The women won handliy in game one, while the men lost a hotly contested game by three points. Our thanks go out to the St. Lawrence volunteers that braved the wind and cold to cook and serve for three hours. Our league has had a strong bond and partnership with the college for many years, with many players that got their start in the St. Pat’s gym now having leadership roles at St.Lawrence. Their commitment to our community is outstanding, and as an organization we are proud to be associated with them. THANK YOU!.

TWO – BALL TOURNAMENT

The league annual two-ball tournament will be held on Sunday November 23 from 11 am until we finish (usually around 2 pm). Teams of two can be entered by contacting your convenor on game nights. The day is run with separate tournaments for each division, so you can partner with someone from your division even if they are on a different team. The week of November 17 we will do demonstrations of how the games are played at half time of the games. The ruloes are simple – there are mats on the floor with different point values. We play music for one minute and teammates shoot alternate shots from the different mats, with the team having the most points at the end of the minute advancing in the tournament. You can’t shoot from the same mat twice in a row as a team or an individual. Everyone will be guaranteed at least two games.
