With just a few days to go before Christmas I wanted to take the time to do a little reflecting on the season so far, and on how fortunate we are to be continuing to enjoy the magic of what Don Petersen started 68 years ago. He saw a community need and acted on it, and as we look around us now there continues to be a need to give families a safe place to come out and enjoy an evening together, while learning something about the game, and about each other too.
We are so very fortunate to continue to enjoy a great relationship with the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board for our use of the schools where we play, and we have been blessed to have the financial support of so many individuals and businesses through this year as well. Many of those people and businesses that make donations want to remain anonymous, which speaks to their desire to help make a difference in the lives of our players and their families. Our sincere thanks to you all.
While taking photos this fall, I was struck by the number of players that wanted to have photos taken with a parent or a sibling, and some of those photos are below. Often we refer to “the league family” in posts, and these photos are a reminder that families experiencing games in our league together, and the joy of being on a team is what Pete intended I think, and I hope we can continue to be true to his dream.
On behalf of the league executive, I wish you all a safe and happy holiday season, wherever your travels take you. Savour the joy of the season and we look forward to continuing our season long journey together as a league family in January! Merry Christmas! Roland
