We are truly blessed in our organization to have such supportive families participating and enjoying the special place our league is. We want every game to be a positive experience for our participants, our volunteers, and their families, and we all share a responsibility to make sure that happens every night. Recently we had concerns raised about a parent not living up to those expectations through behaviour and game comments. It reminded us of the Ontario Basketball association Fair Play Rules for Spectators that are posted at all OBA events. The rules are simple:
Cheer positively as much as you want.
Support our coaches, athletes, officials and other spectators.
Have fun and enjoy yourselves, enjoy the sport, and the competition,
But if you disrespect the spirit of fair play, you will be asked to leave the gym.
Poor behaviour by spectators has no place in sport, and especially not in our league. RB
