“What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal.” Albert Pike.
The Knights of Columbus Basketball League will be operating under a new name starting this coming season. It will now be known as the “Pete” Petersen Basketball League, in recognition of the league founder Don “Pete” Petersen, who passed away one year ago today. Our belief in the ideals that Pete lived by is still in place with the people running the program, as is our commitment to continuing to give the children of the community a safe place to learn and play the game of basketball. From the first day Pete opened the gym of St. Pat’s School and encouraged the children at the school and the neighbourhood to come in and play basketball, this has been his league. The league is his lasting legacy, and we want to make sure that the next generations of players understand his impact on the basketball community in Kingston. We are all positive about the name change, and look forward to the opportunity this represents. We are excited to have a new group of players grow up in the league that Pete built, playing under his name, and learning how much fun the game can be. We ask that you share this post within your networks. We will make the web site and Facebook page name changeover following registration to minimize the confusion for people seeking information about that day.
