Don “Pete” Petersen

Today would be Don Petersen’s birthday, an appropriate day to remember the man that started our basketball league, and to say thanks for caring enough about the children in his neighbourhood to open the school, call them off the hill behind St. Pat’s, and give them a chance to play. That gesture of friendship and faith has grown into what we have today thanks to his leadership, his mentorship and the spirit of volunteerism that he gave all of us. He said that he could not imagine his life without the league. Neither can the people that he inspired, and the generations of children that have come through his gym doors in 65 years. Thanks Pete
