Ontario Volunteer Service Awards

Last night at St. Lawrence College the 2019 Ontario Volunteer Service awards were handed out to volunteers in our area and we were fortunate enough to have nine of our volunteers recognized at the event. Our recipients were Chris Payne, recognized for 45 years of service, Shawn Hollywood, Charlie Mignault and Lynne Mason for ten years each, Amanda Kyle and Cory Hollywood for 5 years and Emmitt Irwin, Madison Benoit and Kendra Platt for their service as Youth Volunteers. In total, 1499 year of volunteer service to our community were recognized last night, with our volunteers contributing 94 of those years. As Ian Arthur, the MPP for Kingston and the Islands pointed out, in Canada volunteers contribute the equivalent of 2 billion work hours annually to our country. We are very proud of all our volunteers and proud to have this group recognized by the province last night. For photos from the event, please visit our Facebook page.
